Sir John A. Cumber Primary School (SJACPS) has a beautiful new outdoor space to call its own — a purpose-built Sensory Garden, officially opened on May 4th, designed to support the 100+ students with special education and additional learning needs at the school. This isn’t just a garden; it’s a long-term resource that will enrich learning, wellbeing, and play for the SJACPS community and beyond.
The project was spearheaded by The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman and Inclusion Cayman, made possible through a single dedicated donation from Cox Automotive Group, and developed in close partnership with the Ministry of Education & Training and the leadership team at Sir John A. Cumber. It’s a powerful example of what becomes possible when a community pulls together around a shared purpose.
In the video above, you’ll hear directly from the students, parents, and staff who know best what this garden means — in their own words. If you’re inspired by what you see and would like to explore creating sensory spaces in your own school or community, we’d love to hear from you.
