Delroy Watson
Delroy Watson is an Inclusion Facilitator at Inclusion Cayman, bringing a wealth of professional expertise and personal conviction to his role as an advocate for individuals and families with disabilities. He spent over 30 years working in the UK’s care industry, holding roles at various levels including Residential Manager and Services Manager, specialising in mental health and learning difficulties.
He was responsible for drafting and publishing Liverpool’s Strategy for Mental Health Services and holds a degree in Leadership and Management of Health and Social Care. Since relocating to the Cayman Islands, Delroy has channelled that extensive experience into disability advocacy, supporting individuals and families across all three pillars of Inclusion Cayman’s mission: Inclusive Education, Inclusive Employment, and Inclusive Community Life.
Delroy is a prominent voice for inclusive employment in the Cayman Islands. His focus on the”normative pathway” (the expected life journey of education, employment, relationships, and community involvement) is ever present, and he can often be heard stressing that the goal is to help individuals with disabilities follow this pathway as closely as possible: “Work isn’t just about income, it’s about identity, purpose, and belonging.”
He has also spoken at the inaugural Cayman Islands Autism and Neurodevelopment Symposium, presenting on the natural pathways to employment for neurodiverse individuals and how to support them in the workforce.
Delroy’s commitment to inclusion is also deeply personal. He is a proud father of three children and eight grandchildren, two of whom have behavioural difficulties, giving him a firsthand understanding of the barriers and challenges families face. That lived experience, combined with three decades of frontline professional practice, shapes an approach that is both empathetic and practical: one grounded in the belief that every person, regardless of ability, deserves to fully participate in community life.
