Ryan Mushin
Ryan Mushin brings a deep commitment to inclusive education, youth development, and community engagement to his role as Inclusion Facilitator at Inclusion Cayman. He began his career as a Physical Education teacher in Los Angeles, California from 2006 to 2012, before relocating to Grand Cayman in 2012, where he continued teaching and building inclusive, active learning environments for children of all abilities. Ryan went on to serve as Senior Swim Instructor with the Cayman Islands Government’s Department of Sports, where he became a prominent figure in the local aquatics community. He organised the government high school swimming gala championships over several years, and founded and managed the John Gray Swim Club under the Cayman Islands Aquatic Sports Association banner.
Alongside his competitive coaching work, Ryan developed a long-standing dedication to inclusive sport. He first became involved with Special Olympics Cayman Islands a decade ago, helping the late Penny McDowall with swim coaching for athletes with intellectual disabilities, a partnership that would shape the trajectory of his career. That commitment culminated in representing Cayman on the international stage: Ryan travelled with Special Olympics Cayman Islands swimmer Kanza Bodden to the 2023 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Berlin, where Bodden claimed both a gold and a bronze medal. Now at Inclusion Cayman, Ryan continues that mission, working to ensure that individuals of all abilities can access equitable opportunities across education and community life.
