Brent Holt is an Educational Psychologist and one of the most enduring figures in disability advocacy in the Cayman Islands, with a career spanning over 35 years. He holds a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology (Counselling and Student Personnel Psychology) from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, and built his early career working in educational psychology roles in the United States before bringing that expertise to the Cayman Islands.

During his time with the Cayman Islands Ministry of Education, he served in multiple senior capacities: as Educational Psychologist, Head of Student Services, and ultimately as Senior Policy Advisor for Inclusion, before retiring from government service in 2013. Throughout that tenure he was a driving force behind efforts to identify and support children with special educational needs, including supporting the work which fueLled the first comprehensive territory-wide count of children with disabilities in the Cayman Islands, and the establishment of the Special Educational Needs (SEN) code of practice.

Brent has long been one of the most vocal public advocates for addressing the gaps faced by people with disabilities in the Cayman Islands. Beyond his government work, Brent has been instrumental in building the organisation that became Inclusion Cayman. He chaired the Board of Directors of the Special Needs Foundation Cayman from 2010, and was designated Chair Emeritus in 2016 ahead of the organisation’s transition to Inclusion Cayman.

He continues to contribute as a speaker and advocate, participating in the organisation’s flagship Uncharted 2026 family conference as an Educational Psychologist and Inclusion Advocate. At the heart of everything he does is a deeply held conviction: that inclusion is not a privilege but a human right: one that enriches the entire community, not just those with disabilities.
